COMPULSORY MICROCHIPPING AND LITTER INSPECTION

As per the decision of the managing Committee of the Kennel Club of Pakistan, litter inspection and ad COMPULSORY Microchipping has been introduced with effect from 1st June 2017.  As GSDCP and RCP is already carrying out litter inspection and microchipping of GSD and Rottweilers, they will continue microchipping as presently being done by them.  From 1st June 2017, procedure and method of litter checking and microchipping of all breeds, GSD and Rottweilers, will be as follows.

  1. On behalf of the Kennel Club of Pakistan, microchipping and litter inspection will be done by the respective breed Clubs. For example Pointers (English only) will be microchipped by Pointer Club,   Labradors will be microchipped by Labrador Club, Pugs will be microchipped by Pug Club and all Gundog Breeds less Pointers (English) and Labradors will be done by the Gundog Club. All other breeds will be microchipped by the Kennel Club of Pakistan.
  2. Affiliated Clubs will procure their own microchips. The Fee of Microchipping will be Rs. 1500/- for each pup. This will cover the cost of the chip and allied expenses. Savings if any, will be kept by the respective Clubs. It will be the duty of the Clubs to train their representative to properly microchip the pup to ensure no damage is caused to the pup and chip does not move.
  3. As soon as a bitch is mated but not later than 7 days, the breeder will inform the respective Club/Kennel Club giving the name and KCP number of the Dame and Sire. This information could be sent by SMS, WhatsApp, and email or by post. Club will advertise their email address and telephone number at which to send this information. KCP will also display this information on its web.
  4. As soon as litter is born but not later than 7 days, the breeder will inform the respective Club, giving address where litter could be inspected. This information could be given by any mean. The representative of the Club will check the number of pups and note down umber of pups, sexes and colors for record. A  Litter Inspection Fee of Rs. 1000/- (One thousand) will be paid to the representative of the Club at the time of litter inspection.
  5. For Litter Registration, the Breeders, as per KCP Rules, along with Registration Fee, by Pay Order, will apply to KCP on prescribed litter registration form.  After checking the details with KCP databank, the KCP will send this form to respective Clubs. The Clubs will send its representative to inspect the litter and after comparing it with initial inspection record, microchip the pups and record these numbers on the Litter Registration form. At the time of microchipping, the Microchipping Fee will be given to the representative of the Breed Club microchipping the pups. After verification and signatures of the President/Secretary of the Club, the form will be sent back to Kennel Club of Pakistan. The Pedigree Papers will be issued by the KCP and sent to the Breeder. Fee of Microchipping (Rs. 1500/- per pup) will be paid by the Breeder at the time of microchipping.
  6. Microchipping can be done at six weeks of the birth of the litter. After microchipping, the pups can leave the premises of the owner any time.  It will be the duty of the Clubs to ensure that litters are inspected as soon as possible and the staff of the Kennel Club of Pakistan will ensure that Pedigree Papers are not delayed on flimsy grounds. It must be realized that very few breeders have the facilities to keep pups for extended time. We must facilitate breeders and dog owners in every possible way.
  7. To speed up microchipping and litter inspection, it will be the duty of the Clubs to appoint responsible and dedicated representation in major cities. If a permanent representation is not available in any city, Club can delegate this power to any other responsible person.
  8. This system will be operative from 1st June 2017. From 1st January 2017, dogs born after 1st June 2017, will not be allowed to be shown if not microchipped. All Clubs are advised to organize themselves.

The new system may cause some problems to Clubs as well as Breeders due to lack of understanding of the system. Therefore, all of us have to work hard to make this system work. I case of any problem, Breeders may contact Kennel Club of Pakistan at info@kcp.com.pk or kcp@kcp.com.pk.
